Apart from overseas talent, Indian stars like Yuvraj Singh, Gautam Gambhir, R Ashwin and Ajinkya Rahane are likely to fetch some good amount of money.

Root had stayed away from the IPL firstly because he wanted to establish himself in Test cricket and secondly due to the twin considerations of his first child, which was born in January 2017, and his appointment as Test captain of the England team.

The pair are among 36 players who have listed their base price at the maximum of 430 thousand dollars.

England all-rounder Ben Stokes, who is still out of the national side as he awaits disciplinary or legal charges for the Bristol incident in September, has listed his base price at INR 2 crore.

The full list has 281 capped players, 838 uncapped players, including 778 Indians and three players from the Associate nations. He was one of the most sought-after players in the 2017 IPL auction.

Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins are two of 58 Australian players in the auction - the country with the most entries.

India captain Virat Kohli will pick up the IPL's largest salary - £2m - in this year's tournament after his team Royal Challengers Bangalore retained the batsman.

From the Caribbean, Dwayne Bravo, Carlos Braithwaite, Evin Lewis and Jason Holder would be the most sought after players in the IPL 2018 auction. West Indies and Sri Lanka both have 39 players each while New Zealand has 30.

Among those vying for places in cricket's richest T20 League are Proteas superstars Hashim Amla, David Miller, Quinton de Kock and Kagiso Rabada. Lasith Malinga will lead Sri Lanka's entourage that includes Angelo Mathews, the exciting Niroshan Dickwella, and Thisara Perera. Jofra Archer still looks set to wait out naturalization with his stated ambition to play for England but right now he could be bound for an IPL spell after his brilliant displays in the Big Bash League. Also, from Bangladesh, there are 8 players while 13 and 7 is the number from Afghanistan and Zimbabwe.

Kane Williamson, Colin Munro and Tom Latham from New Zealand will add their charm to the world's most-followed Twenty20 league.
