Viewing figures for "Black Panther's" first trailer last summer were so high, the teaser immediately became one of the three most-watched Marvel trailers in its first 24 hours. The clip gives us a glimpse into the warrior culture of the Dora Milaje and even allows us to see a few fight scenes that go down in the film!
Danai Gurira describes her character, Okoye, as the general of that secretive nation's armed forces, while Lupita Nyong'o calls her "war dog" secret agent, Nakia, a disruptor.
The women of Wakanda are kicking ass and taking names in this featurette from Marvel's upcoming "Black Panther".
But Okoye and the Dora Milaje aren't the only ones taking care of business.
Aside from the action, what really stands out in all the footage is the intricate and stunning production design by Hannah Beachler (who worked on Moonlight and Creed) and the costume design by Ruth E. Carter (Selma). The film is set to arrive next month and is one of Marvel's most anticipated films this year.
The movie opened for advance ticket sales at the start of the week, and has already overtaken previous top-seller Captain America: Civil War (the movie which, of course, introduced Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa, the Black Panther, to the MCU in the first place). But when a powerful old enemy reappears, T'Challa's mettle as king-and Black Panther-is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk.
The heroic adventure opens on February 16, which is part of the four-day President's Day holiday weekend and adjacent to Valentine's Day which falls on a Wednesday this year, per Deadline.
