It has been more than 18 months since Khan (31-4, 19 KOs) last boxed, with his last fight ending in a brutal sixth-round knockout defeat handed to him by Mexican middleweight Saul "Canelo" Alvarez in May 2016. At this final stage of my career I need a team who can get me the big fights. Three fights this year is something I want to do and I can't wait.
Khan said: "I'm thrilled to be teaming up with Matchroom".

That humbling experience also focused Khan on ending his feud with his previous promoter, Eddie Hearn, who he had accused of being the "unlikeable" barrier to a long-awaited domestic blockbuster of a fight with Kell Brook.
"Looking at future fights, maybe someone like Kell Brook".
"I was in the jungle, thinking very hard in there, on my own and not listening to other people, and thinking about where I wanted to be in my life", he said.
"The plan is to box in April and then again in August or September in preparation for a super fight in winter 2018", Hearn said Wednesday, according to a story posted to the website of London's Daily Mail. I'm going to get the feel of boxing again and go to training camp in a few weeks. Eddie will probably be my last promoter now'. "Last time he fought, British boxing was in a good place".
"The target is to provide him with the biggest fights possible with a mouth-watering list of names including the likes of Manny Pacquiao, Kell Brook, Keith Thurman and Errol Spence". I just don't like Eddie Hearn.
A fight between the pair has always been touted, however, never came to fruition as the two boxers camps could not agree terms.
In the past, Khan has spoken of his dislike for Hearn.
With Brook now operating at 154 and set for a debut at the higher limit on March 3, any United Kingdom super-fight would potentially be held up by Khan's plans at 147 pounds. "This surprises a lot of people because there has been friction in the past and a lot of things have been said, particularly around failed negotiations to make the Kell Brook fight".
