Jio effect: Airtel Rs. 399 plan with 1GB data per day now with 70 days validity

Airtel has revised its Rs. 399 prepaid pack to take on Jio's Rs. 398 pack. Similarly, its Rs. 509 pack now offers 91-day validity, up from the previous 84 days.

Airtel at Rs 509 offers 1 GB daily data, free voice calls, free roaming and 100SMS per day. Airtel and Jio recently updated its plans to offer more data at cheaper prices. It is worth noting that each of the new BSNL pack includes unlimited local, STD, and roaming calls (excluding Mumbai and Delhi regions) alongside the 100 SMS limit, which is applicable to unlimited packs offered by other telcos in the country as well. Another pack that is priced at a similar rate of Rs. 399 provides the users 1GB data daily with unlimited calls and 100 SMS and has an extended validity period of 56 days. The former comes with a validity of 54 days, while the latter comes with 81 days of validity. Apart from these, Jio is now offering 3GB data per day and 5GB data per day for 28 days with the Rs. 509 and Rs. 799 packs, respectively.

Vodafone offers 1GB 4G/3G data per day at Rs 509.

Trai's subscriber data showed Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India and Idea also registered gains in market share to 24.91%, 18.15% and 16.69% from 24.21%, 17.68% band 16.20% in October respectively. Vodafone's Rs 509 will compete against Airtel's Rs 509 and Jio's Rs 498 plans. Users will also get unlimited voice calls and free roaming under this offer. This means users will get 84GB of data during the validity period, up from 70GB.

Jio has also introduced a 91 days 'plan. The validity of the pack is 70 days. The telecom operator is offering either 43 percent of extra validity or 50 percent additional data. Users would get Rs. 103 of talk time, with call rates of 15 paisa per minute for BSNL to BSNL networks in this prepaid pack.
