Mukul Jain, enrolled in the Life Sciences course, has been missing since 8 January, they said.

After Najeeb Ahmed, another Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student has gone missing from the campus.

Police said Jain was allegedly upset over some differences that had cropped up between him and a woman who he had recently befriended. Director of Research Unit of IGNOU, Kaustuva Barik confirmed that, "Jain was a PhD scholar of the open university whose first supervisor was from the IGNOU, and a co-supervisor from the JNU".

During the investigation, some other students informed that Mukul, a resident of Ghaziabad, was undergoing relationship problems.

After missing report, the management has sent out a notice asking anyone to notify the security staff of any known whereabouts. "There is no suspect in this case", a police officer said.

The police, however, do not suspect any foul play.

Photographs of Mukul Jain were circulated on social media, in an attempt to help locate the youth, although Najeeb Ahmed is still yet to be found after almost 2 years.

Najeeb Ahmed, a JNU student, had also gone missing from campus on October 15, 2016 following a scuffle.

The high court on May 16 past year handed over to the CBI the investigation into the disappearance of Najeeb, a student of M.Sc in Biotechnology.
