The Airtel-Intex pact is the Sunil Mittal-led telco's third aggressive 4G smartphone offer under its ongoing'Mera Pehla 4G smartphone' drive, aimed at bringing affordable bundled 4G phone options to the market.
Vodafone India, for example, has tied up with mobile handset firm Micromax to launch a 4G smartphone at an "effective price" of Rs 999.
Additionally, Intex's two other smartphones - Aqua A4 and Aqua S3 - will also be available at effective prices of Rs 1,999 and Rs 4,379, respectively as part of the partnership.
Both Intex and Airtel added three new Intex smartphones to the Airtel Mera Pehla Smartphone portfolio. It has 2MP rear and 0.3MP front VGA camera. Now, Airtel has partnered with Intex to offer a cashback of Rs. 1,500 on Intex smartphones. It is powered by 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, 1GB RAM and had 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 64GB. The operator has partnered with Indian domestic smartphone manufacturer Intex Technologies. Airtel has launched the new devices under its "Mera Pehla Smartphone" initiative.
Coming to the costliest of the pack, the Intex Aqua S3 boasts of a bigger 5-inch HD display with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution.
In case, if a customer does not wish to opt for the Rs 169 bundled plan, she/he has the flexibility of doing recharges of any denomination and validity as per individual requirements. Running on Android 7.0 Nougat, the smartphone is powered by a slightly more powerful 1.3GHz MTK processor along with 1GB of RAM. However, to claim the cash refund benefit, recharges worth Rs 3000 must be done within the first 18 months (to claim the first refund instalment of Rs 500) and another Rs 3000 over the next 18 months (to claim the second refund instalment of Rs 1000). On the photography front, it gets a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel selfie shooter. Eligible Airtel subscribers can buy any of these smartphones and get periodic cash backs to lower the cost of the device. The smartphones come pre-loaded with MyAirtel App, Airtel TV and Wynk Music. Additionally, at GoogleForIndia event, the search giant said that JioPhone will get Google Assistant very soon - with that, JioPhone will become the first ever feature phone to come with Google Assistant.
