'Winner' Fabregas changed my mind, says Conte

Cesc Fabregas: I wasn't part of his plans, I feared for my Chelsea future but Antonio Conte trusts me now

Cesc Fabregas on his Chelsea future: “Let's see what happens”

"I would be lying if said I wasn't anxious". 'Maybe anxious is not the right word but you can imagine, I wasn't playing and not really part of his initial plans.

"You can just give up and accept you are not going to be part of the team or the club in the future".

"My relationship with the manager (now) is fantastic". In this season he has continued to work very hard and he's shown me great commitment, great behaviours.

Fabregas was initially out of favour when Conte was appointed as Jose Mourinho's permanent successor back in May 2016.

"He is young. When you are 30 years old, you have at least five years to play football".

"He trusts me. He knows exactly what I can give to the team".

'At the beginning of last season, the boss never trusted me in every game in a 3-4-3 system and now he does.

I am only 30. I'm learning a lot.

"I think he was very important for us to win the title last season".

"To play at this level you must have great desire and will, because this level is not simple".

'I have a year left, but let's see what happen.

"I'm where I want to be". When the moment comes to talk about different things I'll be here, ready for it.

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has admitted that he now has a "fantastic" relationship with Antonio Conte after winning over his manager last season. There is a lot of competition but Cesc has great ambition - he's a victor in his mentality. He's a victor in his mind, in his mentality.

Fabregas' impact on Chelsea's title winning campaign was crucial last season, and when you consider the fact he provided an incredible 12 assists in just 13 starts, it's easy to see how he won his manager around.

The closest he came was defeat in the final with Arsenal in 2006.

Conte, whose side are through to the knockout stages but can top the group if they beat Atletico, agreed with Fabregas with regard to his age.

The player has been at his best this season as Chelsea have enjoyed a satisfying start to the season and discussing the secret to his rejuvenation, Fabregas said: "You could say freedom".

'I reached a few semi-finals and lost a final in a cruel way but it's a competition where you need to be lucky, consistent and strong and hopefully it can be Chelsea's year.
