Eimear Noonan, who hails from Caher, Killanena in Clare, was last seen on Wednesday in the town on Annonay, approximately 75km south of Lyon, where she was working as a teaching assistant in a primary school.

Tragically the worst news possible emerged from France as police confirm that the body found is that of missing 21-year-old Eimear Noonan. "There wasn't much water but she appears to have drowned because she was unconscious", a local official told The Irish Times. She sustained a fall while out running in the French countryside.

"Eimear will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially her parents Flan and Mary, her brothers Declan, Michael and Cathal and all her family and friends".

Family and friends of Eimear are appealing for information on her whereabouts and have launched a social media campaign.

The Department of Foreign Affairs are liaising with French authorities to repatriate Eimear's remains to Ireland in the coming days.

Ms Noonan had arrived in France recently after finishing her studies at University College Cork, where she was involved with the UCC orchestra....

In a message on Facebook, her brother Cathal Noonan said the French authorities had now confirmed that Ms Noonan, who was 21, died following a fall while running on Wednesday.
