Voting was done by members of the Baseball Writers' Association of America and was completed before the start of the postseason.

Aaron Judge's historic 2017 season was recognized Monday as the Yankees' slugger won the AL Rookie of the Year award. He added 97 RBIs, 10 stolen bases, a.267/.352/.581 slash line and 4.2 WAR as he replaced Adrian Gonzalez as the Dodgers' everyday first baseman.

Bellinger becomes the second consecutive Dodger (18th overall) to win Rookie of the Year after teammate Corey Seager took home the honor last year. After not making the Yankees' Opening Day roster until the tail end of spring training, Judge - whose 2016 major league cup of coffee saw him strike out 42 times in 84 at-bats - set the rookie single-season record with 52 home runs.

The Dodgers won 104 games, the most in the major leagues this year and the most by any Dodgers team in 64 years. But once he was called up on April 25, Bellinger proved to be one of the best hitters in the NL.

Paul DeJong of the St. Louis Cardinals was second in the voting with the Pittsburgh Pirates' Josh Bell third.

By July, the Dodger Stadium fans were serenading Bellinger with "M-V-P" chants, and teammate Enrique Hernandez wanted to know why Bellinger's name was not in the conversation for the league's most valuable player. They're now providing me another way to share my passion for the game. "People talk about how the MVP should come from a winning team".

Bellinger was not one of three finalists for the NL MVP award.

Cody Bellinger #35 of the Los Angeles Dodgers rounds the bases after hitting a three-run home run during the fifth inning against the Houston Astros in Game 5 of the 2017 World Series at Minute Maid Park on October 29, 2017, in Houston.

Neither race was close as each first-year player was selected unanimously. "I didn't make adjustments".
