The younger son, Akhil Akkineni confirmed the news when he tweeted - "Unfortunately there was a fire accident in Annapurna studios this evening". Four fire trucks took about two hours to extinguish the blaze completely, police said. Fortunately it was contained and no one was injured.
In an unfortunate incident, a major fire broke out at Annapurna studio in Banjara Hills on Monday evening. TV reports say that the sets have been completely burnt. Speaking to newsmen, Nagarjuna said it was very unfortunate that the set was gutted as it was constructed to shoot his father's last movie and that is where Nageswara Rao spent his last days. Annapurna Studios, promoted by noted film actor Akkineni Nagarjuna, is one of the oldest studios in South India.
For those who don't know, Annapurna Studios was founded by Akkineni Nageswara Rao, twenty two years ago.
It mainly produces and distributes Telugu films and also provides various production facilities, including sound stages for set construction, outdoor sets, editing, dubbing and digital intermediate suites. The studio is now run by Nagarjuna. 6 fire engines and water tanks were summoned immediately.
