Jets lose to Buccaneers, 15-10

For the Jets, running back Matt Forte (knee), who had a season-high 77 rushing yards in New York's victory against the Buffalo Bills on November 2, is inactive. They had takeaways, with cornerback Brent Grimes picking off Josh McCown on a deep post route to get things going.

Ryan Fitzpatrick will start at quarterback for the Bucs.

The Jets consistently gave the Bucs poor field position.

It wasn't a ideal day, though.

Fitzpatrick, facing the team he played for the past two seasons, completed 17 of 34 passes for 187 yards and was intercepted once.

Leonard Williams sacked Fitzpatrick in the second quarter. He got rid of the ball quickly as pressure loomed.

Fantasy owners would be wise to start Kearse but only as a FLEX option if no other better alternatives are available. (It would have been two, had it not been for an illegal contact penalty on the Jets' defense.) But the Bucs still have scored just two offensive touchdowns in the past 12 quarters of play, and that is not something that should be overlooked, regardless of who the signal-caller is.

The Jets claimed the 25-year-old off waivers and have given him the opportunity to turn his life around and become one of the better tight ends in the National Football League this year. It was the key to fending off the rally from McCown, who racked up over 100 passing yards and a touchdown after having just over 100 passing yards through three and a half quarters. Tampa Bay replaced Evans on the roster by promoting wide receiver Freddie Martino, who made eight catches for 142 yards and a touchdown in 13 games with the team past year, from the practice squad.

Overall on offense, there were too many wasted opportunities.

Lachlan Edwards' tackle saved a touchdown on a punt return.

Although the Buccaneers still didn't look like the explosive team they need to be to reach the playoffs, there were still several bright spots. But the Bucs showed they still have it in them to play hard for their coaches and haven't given up, even if many around them have.
