Rohr delighted with Super Eagles performance

Nigeria had defeated Zambia 2-1 in Ndola to kick off their Group B World Cup campaign.

Nigeria will meet Algeria in their last qualifying game of the series, but the result of the game will amount to nothing, as the Eagles have already sealed their passage to Russian Federation through their 1-0 defeat of Zambia in Uyo on Saturday.

The Super Eagles, with an away-match left to play against the Algerian national team, has already qualified for the 2018 FIFA World Cup tournament in Russian Federation.

The current Super Eagles re-enacted the feat of the Super Eagles' class of 1997 that qualified for the France'98 World Cup with a match to spare.

Meanwhile, Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr has said he is happy working with the Eagles.

The former Chelsea FC of England midfielder could have been going to his fourth World Cup finals if Nigeria had not narrowly (head-to-head principle) missed the 2006 finals in Germany and he had not been injured just before the 2010 finals in South Africa.

Buhari called on all Nigerians to apply the values of perseverance, resilience, discipline, hard work and team-spirit, which propelled the players to excel since the beginning of the qualifying matches, to all sectors of national life.

"They are a delight to be with at all times, and I believe we are on to great things".

His victories also include a 4-0 bashing of Cameroon in Uyo in September 2017 and a 1- 0 defeat of Zambia in Uyo in October 2017, which guaranteed the World Cup ticket.

"Age is, but a number".
