Helicopter reportedly crashes in woods in Albemarle County

Virginia State Police are saying two people are dead after a helicopter crashed Saturday evening. The FAA said it is investigating the crash and the National Transportation Safety Board will determine its probable cause.

Shortly before 5 p.m. today (Aug. 12), a helicopter crashed into a wooded area near a residence on Old Farm Road.

Emergency crews were responding, according to CBS affiliate WCAV-TV.

Police and rescue services are on scene. It's confirmed it was a state police helicopter.

Emma Eisner, who filmed the clip, said: 'To everyone asking about the helicopter crash: it basically started stalling, spiraled down to the ground & lost control'.

The names of the two fatalities have not been released at this time. In a video by The Daily Caller, it was first stated that a helicopter had gone down in Charlottesville.
