The purple is the team's version of the "community-inspired" uniform that each National Basketball Association team will have.
On Friday, the Lakers unveiled three of their new Nike uniforms, which will launch this season. Aside from the MLS, it is a move we have not seen in the majority of American professional sports. For those that have not, Heavy has posted leaks from other sources.
Their new Nike jerseys retain much of the same overall look.
"We're excited to share with our fans today an updated design that was inspired by our team's heritage, but with a sleek, modern look flawless for our talented young team", Suns president Jason Rowley said.
The jerseys will be made of out recycled material and - of course - are lighter than the Adidas version the National Basketball Association is leaving behind. Instead, the home team will pick the jersey they want to wear, and the visiting team will counter by wearing either a lighter or darker uniform choice.
"The classic white Association Edition and black Icon Edition jersey designs maintain San Antonio's traditional look, featuring the team name centered by the iconic Spurs logo arched across the chest, with the player numbers just below and the Nike Swoosh on the right breast". Still to be revealed are the city edition, which could be similar to the navy Dallas skyline jerseys the Mavs have worn in recent years, and the statement, which according to Mavs.com "allows the athletes at each team to make a statement without saying a word". The Lakers and Clippers will both don their new apparel on opening October 19 in the teams' 2017-18 season opener.
