With Samoa Joe being used early when Bruan Strowman went down due to an injury this would certainly move some puzzle pieces around.
Cena will also be appearing at the next SmackDown pay-per-view, WWE Battleground, on Sunday, July 23rd, which is the final SmackDown pay-per-view before SummerSlam. The victor of that match will possibly face the victor of the Brock Lesnar vs. Samoa Joe match at SummerSlam for the Universal championship.
Is an ambulance ride in Roman Reigns' near future? Lesnar is an attraction and the most legitimate WWE superstar of all time but he is not the face of the company, a mantle now belonging to Cena. If that's going to be the case, and WWE is looking to make SummerSlam an even bigger event than usual, he could have a match against Cena at Barclays Center.
Despite formerly being a member of the Smackdown Live roster, Cena will be a free agent upon his return. After all the planned Universal Title match for SummerSlam was Brock Lesnar vs Braun Strowman. The people behind WWE revealed that Lesnar's limited appearance has not been doing the show any good.
Other highlights from Cena's Q&A with fans included the 40-year-old stating "The engagement to the woman of my dreams hands down the best", when asked about his most memorable opportunity. Triple H's statement has gotten fans to speculate that WWE is preparing Rollins to replace Cena and Reigns as the new face of WWE.
If Cena joins the WWE Championship picture, then a feud with Baron Corbin probably won't be very far away.
Cena has been more than willing to work with up-and-coming heels in recent years.
WWE is clearly high on both Jinder and Corbin, so don't be surprised if both wrestlers have big matches with Cena before the year is out. Cena will be filling in for Roman Reigns at those shows against Bray Wyatt.
