Earlier this month, HMD Global launched its latest Nokia-branded smartphones in India at an event in New Delhi, which includes one entry-level smartphone, "Nokia 3" along with two mid-range smartphones namely Nokia 5 and Nokia 6. Now, the smartphone has been found listed on the Indian e-commerce website Chroma.com. Users can also opt for an EMI or the "cash on delivery" option as well. Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 are supposed to be the offline exclusive smartphones from the company. "The Nokia 6 exemplifies our commitment to best-in-class performance, design, and craftsmanship, and we are proud to offer American consumers a smartphone option that will not require them to sacrifice quality for cost".
The hesitation on part of retailers puts the availability of the new phones in limbo as it is tough to peg a specific date when they will be ready to accept stocks. The Nokia 5 will be up for pre-orders starting July 7 via offline stores. HMD Global had initially said it wanted all phones to be launched in India by June. The device is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek 6737 quad-core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which is further expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card. Nokia 3 sports an 8MP rear camera and the front camera is also 8MP.
"It brings us great pleasure to introduce a new generation of USA fans to Nokia phones, while offering existing fans the same unparalleled and high quality Nokia phone experience they have come to love over the years", explained HMD Global vice president for the Americas, Maurizio Angelone, in a press release. Nokia 3 comes with a 2,650 mAh battery with micro-USB 2.0 for charging. HMD Global is going with a stock Android experience on all of its new smartphones. The Nokia 6 will be available through Amazon in Matte Black and Silver color variations, and it will retail for $229.
The Nokia 3 runs a completely stock build of Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
