Overtly and arrogantly collaborating with the District Attorney.
Since Thursday morning, when the jurors told Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas Judge Steven O'Neill they were having trouble reaching agreement, they have spent almost 24 hours either discussing the case in a conference room or re-hearing trial testimony in the courtroom. But the judge sent the jury back to continue deliberating.
As NPR's Gene Demby has written, Cosby was a black luminary who served not just as a racial and cultural ambassador to white America, but also as a financial backer of black America. Andrea Constand says Cosby gave her pills that made her paralyzed and unable to fight him off as he groped her breast and genitals. "I wanted it to stop". Their honest work, individually. And, please, to the supporters, stay calm.
"Stay calm. Don't argue with people".
The trial has irrevocably damaged the legacy of Cosby, once a towering figure in USA popular culture best known for his seminal role as a lovable father and obstetrician on hit 1984-92 TV series "The Cosby Show".
"How do I describe the District Attorney? As a very special friend once stated, 'Truth can be subdued, but not destroyed'".
"I just want to wish all of the fathers a happy Father's Day", Cosby said. Prosecutors have suggested he gave her something stronger, possibly quaaludes.
Constand accuses the 79-year-old entertainer of drugging and molesting her at his Philadelphia-area home in 2004. Constand told the jury she was merely returning his calls about the women's basketball squad at Temple University, where she was director of team operations and he was a member of the board of trustees. He said Constand "is entitled to a verdict in this case and the citizens of Montgomery County, where this crime occurred, are entitled to a verdict in this case".
Approximately 60 accusations of sexual assault have been made against Cosby over a number of years, but only Constand's resulted in criminal charges because the other alleged incidents were too old to prosecute.
The most prominent was brought by Tamara Green in federal court in MA.
Cosby and his attorneys have maintained that the two were romantically involved and the encounter was consensual. Cosby admitted under oath that he procured sedatives for the goal of giving them to young women with whom he wanted to have sex.
Dickinson and her attorney Lisa Bloom sued Cosby for defamation in May 2015, saying Singer's comments hurt her professionally and personally.
Dunham, who in 2014 wrote about a sexual assault committed against her, said Saturday that "Bill Cosby's trial is about much more than Bill Cosby", in a series of tweets.
Prosecutors found themselves back to square one Saturday after the judge declared a mistrial following more than 52 hours of deliberations over six days. He pledged the three counts of aggravated indecent assault would stand and praised Constand's "courage". "If the court allows more accusers to testify next time it might make a difference". Cosby has denied all of the charges, and has only been criminally charged in the Constand case.
Cosby has been an icon in the black community following a successful career in comedy, including playing the lead role in his eponymous Cosby Show, which ran for almost a decade from 1984 until 1992. The NBC show became a ratings hit and sitcom classic that some believe helped pave the way for the election of the first African-American president a generation after its debut.
